Makueni County has acquired 18 pandemic compliant critical care beds, which are locally manufactured by Mayleen Corporation.

This is in line with national requirements for hospitals to boost their intensive care capacity, in-order to handle the projected surge COVID-19 in infections, following the gradual re-opening of the economy and lifting of emergency measures.

Makueni’s emergency unit is located in Makindu Sub-County.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, new opportunities for local production and synergies between the public and private sector have enabled innovation and created jobs for local manpower, under the “Buy Kenya, Build Kenya” initiative.
